Book Review

Lilly is a spunky little mouse who loves everything about school, especially her teacher, Mr. Slinger. Lilly comes to school one day especially excited to show everyone her new purple plastic purse but is heartbroken, and then furious, when Mr. Slinger takes it away because she interrupts class to show it off. Lilly writes Mr. Slinger an ugly note, slips it into his bookbag and stomps out of class. Imagine her chagrin when she later discovers a sweet note and a bag of snacks in her purse after Mr. Slinger gives it back to her. Lilly's Purple Plastic Purse is a wonderful story of forgiveness and moving on after making a mistake.

  1. Lily is one of my favorite characters. Of course, I covet her purple plastic purse. I love her spunkiness and also her ability to apologize and learn from her mistakes.

  2. Lily is also one of my favorite characters. I like to read it every year to the kinder classes because you one inexperience kinder student is going to make the same mistake. It makes me think of the funky shaped rubber bands that are so popular this year. I really hate to take up something students treasure.

  3. I smiled when I saw your book review choice. I love this book. It also makes me miss being part of story time. It's funny but now when I see this book I say to myself; "that would be a good book to teach persuasion." :-) Funny how things change.
